THE GOLDEN AGE OF CANCER RESEARCH
Benefits for Donating Blood???
Happy July 4th!!
This is the season when we remember the trials and bravery of the generation of patriots who founded our nation. Freedoms, the ability to be rewarded for hard work, and a community that stood together as fellow Americans. We care for our fellow Americans! One patriotic action that many Americans are able to do is donate blood. This is particularly worth considering when a family member or friend needs a blood donation because of health reasons. Or at a time of crisis or natural disaster. However, there are more excellent reasons to donate. When you donate blood you are truly helping out your fellow Americans and this gives a donor a rewarding sensation, "I helped out". That is a good vibe. Did you know there are possibly some other great health reasons to donate blood!!?
Studies have linked donating blood to a reduced risk of liver, lung, colon and esophageal cancers. High iron blood levels have been linked to these cancers. Donating blood will temporarily reduce the iron levels in the donor's blood. Reduce the iron level, reduce the risk.
There are also studies that show regular blood donations cause a slight genentic change in the donor's blood. This good change has been linked to reduced risk of blood cancers.
The relationship between donating blood and cancer risks needs further study. Yet these bits of info are worth pondering the next time you are considering being a blood donator. Plus donating is a very patriotic thing to do for you fellow Americans and your soul.
